Can anyone tell me more about this picture? Was this the Commander's residence?

To answer your question, I know because, among the 20 or so years I work in Germany, I also worked here with Tom Wojtal in the summer of 73 as a soldier and Tom's clerical assistant. My wife also worked here with Peter Rietendinger, from 75 until 78. Stangass Kaserne was the headquarters for BRA (Chiemsee and B'gaden Rec Center). The commander of the center, his staff and admin personnel. It was later a civilian counterpart*(86-95) who poorly ran the center from here. They did have a residence upstairs. There were also guests quarters on the other side of the building. When I revisited last February (2008) and in 2005, they were revamping the building as the area had sold fast. The HQ building was sold to a political contact/affiliation of one of the political parties, that is how its done in Bavaria. Not sure what if any if used for today. But back then it was the hub of the rec center. I used to love the view as every morning the view of the Watzman was just out of this world.
