  I was playing the music in the sedate old Gen Patton Hotel dining room one evening,when in bursts "Mickey the Dosser," a Geordie lad and temporary GAP legend for a while, if anyone remembers, and hurls a half-eaten apple at the giant portrait of Gen Patton himself that took up most of the wall at one end of the dining room. Well the randomly-aimed apple somehow hits Patton right in the balls no less, leaving a nasty apple stain on the crotch of his riding britches. And as the M.P,s hauled the loudly-protesting Dosser Mickey away, I marvelled at the fact that the General's expression in the portrait had not changed. Hardly surprising, since he looked in that portrait, as if he had been hit in the balls anyway. Dave McCarthy. circa 1980-89
